NOW FEATURING CASK ALE!
Cask-conditioned beer is beer in its truest form. It is unfiltered, naturally carbonated, contains “live” unpasteurized yeast that CONDITIONS the beer as it ages in the CASK. Once the cask tapped, the beer is hand-pumped by a BEER ENGINE and served slightly warmer than our other beers, allowing the true flavors to surface. This is a unique drinking experience not to be missed.

BEER FACTS
Beer was first brewed in Africa over 10,000 years ago.

Prized possessions were often buried with the remains of important officials in ancient Mesopotamia. A glittering metal tube discovered in one tomb proved to be a golden straw for sipping beer.

After civilization got rolling, beer was always an important part of it. Noah carried beer on the ark. Sumerian laborers received rations of it. Egyptians made it from barley, Babylonians made it from wheat, and Incas made it from corn.

The Sumerians of Mesopotamia worshipped NINKASI, the goddess of beer.

Many of the Egyptians who built the pyramids were paid in beer.

Barley for brewing was so important to the early Romans that they honored the grain on their gold and silver coins.

From ancient Egypt until medieval Europe, women brewed the beer--they were known as “brewsters” or “alewives.”

In 1516, the Bavarians passed the “Reinheitsgebot,” or “Beer Purity Law” that limitd beer ingredients to barley malt, hops, and water (the law was later ammended to include yeast and wheat).

The city of Danzig, Germany took beer quality quite seriously-- anyone who was found brewing“bad” beer was detained and thrown on the town dung heap.

Before invention of the thermometer, brewers used to check the temperature by dipping their thumb, to find whether appropriate for adding Yeast. Too hot, the yeast would die. This is where we get "The Rule of the Thumb."

In old England, ale was ordered by pints and quarts. When customers got unruly, the bartender yelled at them to mind their own P’s and Q’s and settle down.

The Pilgrims planned to land in New York, but landed in Massachusetts instead because they ran out of beer.

The average American annually consumes 23.1 gallons of beer.
